First rate verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role, along with demonstrated report writing abilities and a desire to get the job done right the first time. You must be an all-rounder, with knowledge and experience in infrastructure, roads, waste water and civil construction. Part of your responsibilities will include supervising and training apprentices from the local community. This role requires the ability to take the initiative and think outside the square. You will need a high level of practical management skills, particularly with an emphasis on planning and problem solving abilities. Experience in working in a remote community or with indigenous people will be highly regarded as well as experience in the application & management of grant applications. Demonstrated experience managing contractors with strong, clear leadership is essential. Tertiary qualifications in an engineering discipline is essential, along with a minimum of 4-5 years solid experience in Australian conditions. Local Government experience, particularly knowledge of the Queensland Local Government Act, would be highly advantageous.
