About the Opportunity
Northern Territory Correctional Services has opportunities for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join their team as Correctional Officer Recruits , to be based throughout the Territory.
Nowadays there's far more to being a professional Correctional Officer than you might think! You'll complete an intensive paid training period before joining a diverse team that takes responsibility for the safe, secure and humane management of prisoners , both inside and outside the correctional facilities. Your days will include interacting with prisoners to guide and assist them with programs that will assist in their rehabilitation.
Recruits commence on a 12 months contract. They undertake initial comprehensive paid training for the first 11 weeks prior to commencing on the operational roster. This training is followed by on-the-job assessments during the remainder of the contract.
Successful completion of these assessments will result in the Certificate III in Correctional Practice - Custodial. This qualification is an essential requirement for a permanent position as a Prison Officer.
You'll work to a rotating 28 day shift roster, and receive six weeks recreation leave per year , with an additional one week leave for working ten Sundays or more during a calendar year. Given this is a government job, you may also entitled to Long Service Leave, with entitlements accrued in previous government roles carried over.
You will be rewarded for your dedication, passion and commitment with attractive pay during the training period , which will increase to an attractive salary circa $61,238 including shift allowance (after initial training).
