The position works with young people in crisis and prioritises emotional and physical safety by using multi-systemic and family-based interventions. The intervention model empowers families, facilitates their connections with other providers and minimises the need for hospital admissions.
The position is part of the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service which is in the process of developing and implementing a new initiative to focus on intensive care and assessment of CAMHS within a rural context.
The Clinical Psychologist is responsible for providing expert clinical and service development advice in relation to the developing service. Initially the Clinical Psychologist will be instrumental in developing this new service and will subsequently be responsible for providing direct clinical care and clinical leadership for the service.
The successful applicant will primarily work with CAMHS teams within the geographical locations serviced by the Community Mental Health Service in which the position is located. Engagement with staff in other areas may be required from time to time.
The duties of this Clinical Psychologist position consist of:
Initially the development of a model of service in consultation with key stakeholders that meets the key performance indicators of the program. This process will include the developing and driving the implementation of this new initiative.
Identifying and developing relations with community partners to facilitate collaborative partnerships in the prevention and early intervention of social and emotional health problems for children and adolescents. The provision of clinical leadership, supervision, and support to clinicians of all professional disciplines who work in the Assertive CAMHS Team as required.
Take a senior clinical role in the management of complex cases and maintain a clinical caseload. This will involve direct clinical work with children, young people and their families/carers and other relevant parties
Ensure that all initiatives are based on evidence and/or contemporary practice, and incorporate continuous quality improvement methodologies.
To conduct comprehensive mental health diagnostic and behavioural assessments of young consumers and their families.
To develop comprehensive case formulations and treatment plans based on empirically derived psychological principles.
To provide evidence based therapeutic interventions to children, adolescents and their families referred to the service with psychological disorders, psychiatric illnesses and behavioural and psychological symptoms of distress.
To provide profession-specific services to consumers being case managed, in line with the APS Code of Ethics and practice and legislative provisions of the Psychology Board of Australia and AHPRA. To achieve this working within a holistic biopsychosocial and culturally appropriate approach, providing assertive intervention when required.
Undertake other duties as directed by the Queanbeyan Community Mental Health Team Manager.
The role also involves the provision of mental health crisis intervention services (when rostered, on-call and/or shift work, as part of a 7 day roster).

The Sonographer will be required to:
Perform a wide range of Ultrasound examinations in adherence to the protocols set out by the Australian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine/ reporting Radiologists and NSW Ministry of Health standards and criteria.
Maintain CPD activities to remain on the ASAR registry.
Treat patients in a courteous, professional manner having regard to their rights to privacy, dignity and confidentiality ensuring compliance with an ethical code of practice such as the ASUM “Policy on Diagnostic Ultrasound Services “.
Modify examination techniques to ensure that all anatomical structures and physiological processes are demonstrated to respond to the initial clinical enquiry or which may arise in the course of the ultrasound examination.
Perform other duties, which are outside the normal duties but are beneficial to patient well-being and departmental workflow as directed by the Head of Department or nominated delegate.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, radiologists, referrers and the various hospital departments whilst maintaining good working relationships with other employees.
Be familiar with associated aspects of patient care such as nursing requirements, infection control and emergencies.
Observe safe working practices in carrying out duties and bring to the Medical Imaging Manager’s attention any situation you deem unsafe.
Liaise with the Medical Imaging Manager or nominated delegate, on any matters affecting the normal function and policy of the Department.
Participate in staff meetings as a method of maintaining communication between management and staff and for projection of ideas to increase Department efficacy.
