Our government client is seeking an APS 6 Tooling Design Officer to work on site. This role is looking to commence immediately and continuing to mid-June 2012 (37.5hrs per week) Main Responsibilities • Undertake complex design and development of new and innovative coin related products and prepare drawings of press and packaging tooling using Autodesk Inventor 2D and 3D modelling techniques
• Provide high level of engineering support to the R&D section through engineering design, research, proof of concept, numerical analysis, capability testing.
• Design manufacturing process equipment and components through systematic mechanical design process to meet functional requirement and Australian standards using Autodesk Inventor 3D and 2D CAD modelling and drafting techniques to AS1100 technical drawing standard.
• Ensure good engineering/design practices are being applied by the use of FMEA, FEA in all new tooling designs.
• Provide guidance in the selection and design of tooling for manufacture by CNC and conventional methods.
• Work with a team of engineers, production staff and managers to support business objectives.
• Ensure that principles and practices of OH&S, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Workplace Diversity and Participative work practices are followed.
Experience Skills required • Possess a mechanical engineering degree or similar qualification from a recognised academic institution.
• High level of work experience in a commercial manufacturing environment
• Experience in using Autodesk Inventor 3D and 2D CAD modelling and drafting techniques to AS1100 technical drawing standard.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct product trials and testing using analytical and methodical approach.
• Demonstrated technical problem solving abilities through experiments, analysis and systematic methods.
• Demonstrate high proficiency in Microsoft Windows based applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
